Campus Visit for Students in the Aspiring Educators Program from FWISD

On January 17, 2020, CPE hosted this event featuring a campus tour and breakout session on a range of topics.  Additionally, students were provided with meals, a personalized t-shirt, and TCU themed items to 75 students/teachers from Western Hills.  In collaboration with the TCU Admissions Office, application fees for all Aspiring Educators students were waived.




Public School Advocacy

In recognition of Public School Week, (February 24 – 28), the TCU Center for Public Education provided faculty with a copy of Diane Ravitch’s newest book, Slaying Goliath: The Passionate Resistance to Privatization and the Fight to Save America’s Public Schools:

Dr. Marla McGhee, Director of the Center for Public Education, also hand delivered 4 copies of  Diane Ravitch’s book to the Chair and Vice Chairs of the Education Committee of the House of Representatives and Chair and Vice Chair of the Education Committee of the Senate.









Public School Hero

CPE  honored Ms. Shayma Alzubi, Science Educator, as the first Center for Public Education “Public School Hero”. She was awarded $250 to buy materials for her Science class.  Dr. Marla McGhee visited Ms. Alzubi at her class, bringing donuts for the students.













TASA Midwinter Conference, Austin, TX

Dr. Marla McGhee attended the Texas Association of School Administrators Midwinter Conference in Austin, TX and distributed 250 “A Proud Product of Public Education” stickers.









CPE provided 30 copies of “So You Want To Talk About Race” by Ijeoma Oluo.  Meetings had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
